In a major crackdown on drug abuse and habitual offenders, the Hyderabad City Police carried out a special enforcement and awareness drive across the city. The operation was conducted by the Task Force, Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), along with local police teams, under the directions of Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS.
Special Drive Targets Rowdy Sheeters & Drug Offenders
As part of the initiative, authorities conducted sudden medical examinations on:
- Rowdy sheeters
- Known offenders (Rowdy goons)
- Individuals with a history of drug use in NDPS cases
The aim was not only enforcement but also to create awareness about the legal consequences of drug abuse.
Medical Test Results
The medical examinations were carried out in coordination with government hospitals across Hyderabad:
- Gandhi General Hospital:
- 41 tested → 12 positive, 29 negative
- Osmania General Hospital:
- 90 tested → 52 positive, 38 negative
- Erragadda Mental Health Hospital:
- 73 tested → 23 positive, 50 negative

- Total tested: 204 people
- Positive cases: 87
- Negative cases: 117
Counselling & Rehabilitation Focus
Alongside testing, the initiative also included counselling sessions:
- Psychiatrists and doctors explained the harmful effects of drug use
- Emphasis placed on rehabilitation and recovery
- Individuals were encouraged to seek treatment and support
Police confirmed that legal action will be taken in applicable cases against those who tested positive.

The drive was conducted under the supervision of:
- DCP Vaibhav Raghunath Gaikwad, IPS (Task Force / H-NEW)
- Additional DCP Ande Srinivas (Charminar Zone)
It involved close coordination with doctors from:
- Osmania General Hospital

- Government Mental Health Hospital, Erragadda
