A shocking mass murder has rocked Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district after a 35 year old man allegedly killed six people in two separate locations on Friday night. Police said the accused was out on bail in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

According to investigators, the accused first went to Shabad town, where he allegedly abducted and murdered the 16-year-old girl who was the victim in the POCSO case against him. He then allegedly killed the girl’s 45 year old mother and 65 year old grandmother.

Police believe the accused later travelled to his native village, Daivalaguda, where he allegedly murdered his wife, Saritha (30) and their two young sons, aged about three and two. The motive behind killing his own family is still under investigation.

The gruesome killings have triggered widespread outrage across Telangana. Police teams and forensic experts have launched an intensive investigation to establish the sequence of events and determine the exact motive. The case has also raised serious questions about the monitoring of accused persons released on bail in sensitive criminal cases.
