Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner and Hyderabad District Election Officer (DEO) RV Karnan on Monday held a meeting with representatives of recognized political parties regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana.
The meeting was attended by election officials and representatives from various political parties across Hyderabad district. The discussion focused on the schedule, procedures, and implementation of the SIR programme announced by the Election Commission of India.
Officials explained that the Special Intensive Revision aims to prepare a fair, transparent, and error free electoral roll by identifying duplicate, shifted, deceased, or incorrect voter entries and updating voter information.
During the meeting, officials highlighted the important role of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) in verifying voter details and maintaining accurate electoral rolls. Political parties were asked to appoint BLAs for every polling station across the 15 Assembly constituencies in Hyderabad district at the earliest.
The DEO urged political parties to cooperate with election authorities to ensure smooth implementation of the voter verification process. Election officials also briefed party representatives about timelines, voter verification procedures, and coordination mechanisms during the revision drive.
The Special Intensive Revision is part of the Election Commission’s nationwide effort to strengthen and update electoral rolls ahead of future elections.
