Thousands of students, youth groups and civil society activists participated in the “March to Parliament” protest in New Delhi, Demanding education reforms, Greater transparency in recruitment processes and Accountability from the government on issues affecting students and young job seekers.
Delhi Police deployed extensive security arrangements across central Delhi, especially around Parliament House, Vijay Chowk and key government buildings. Multiple layers of barricades were installed, traffic restrictions were imposed and additional police and paramilitary personnel were stationed to prevent protesters from reaching the Parliament complex.
As demonstrators attempted to move toward Parliament, security forces stopped the march at several barricaded points. Some protesters tried to breach the barricades, leading to brief scuffles with police. Authorities used crowd control measures to disperse the gathering and several protesters were detained before being released later.
The protest remained largely peaceful, although isolated clashes were reported in a few locations. Organizers urged participants to continue demonstrating peacefully while calling for reforms in education, fair recruitment practices and greater government accountability.
The demonstrations coincided with the opening day of Parliament’s Monsoon Session, prompting heightened security across the national capital. Authorities maintained that the restrictions were necessary to ensure public safety and the smooth functioning of Parliament.
Following several hours of demonstrations, the situation gradually returned to normal, though organizers indicated that further protests could be held if their demands remain unaddressed.
