Iran has warned that it will retaliate by attacking infrastructure across the Middle East if the United States strikes Iranian bridges, power plants, or other critical facilities, further escalating tensions in the ongoing conflict.
According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, an unnamed military official said:
“If the Americans target an Iranian bridge or power plant, Iran will respond by striking infrastructure and bridges across the region, including energy facilities in which the United States has interests.”
The warning came after US President Donald Trump said the United States would destroy an Iranian bridge or power plant for every new Iranian attack on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump also indicated that future attacks could target key infrastructure in Tehran if hostilities continue.
Iran said any attack on its civilian or strategic infrastructure would trigger a broader regional response, including strikes on:
- Bridges and transport infrastructure.
- Energy facilities linked to US interests.
- Critical infrastructure in countries supporting US military operations.
The exchange of threats has heightened concerns over the security of vital oil and gas infrastructure in the Gulf region. Analysts warn that any attacks on energy facilities or shipping routes could disrupt global oil supplies and push energy prices higher.
Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts, including discussions on a possible ceasefire, both Washington and Tehran have continued exchanging military threats, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.
