Canada removed 3,323 Indian nationals from the country during the first six months of 2026, making Indians the largest nationality group among those removed during the period, according to Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) data.
The figure covers January 1 to June 30, 2026 and is already close to the 3,779 Indian nationals removed during the entire year of 2025.
Indians top the removal list
According to the CBSA figures, 3,323 Indian nationals were removed from Canada in the first half of 2026. Mexican nationals followed with 1,573 removals.
The sharp increase marks a significant rise compared with previous years:

The first half 2026 figure has already exceeded the full year totals recorded in every year from 2021 through 2024.
Canada tightens immigration enforcement
The rise in removals comes as Canada continues to tighten its immigration system and increase enforcement against people who no longer have legal status to remain in the country.
Ottawa has also been working to reduce the number of temporary residents, including international students and temporary foreign workers, amid growing concerns over housing, population growth and pressure on public services.
The latest figures do not mean that all 3,323 Indians were students or temporary workers. CBSA removal statistics cover people subject to different types of immigration removal orders and the nationality figures alone do not specify the individual reason for each removal.
Could set a new record
With 3,323 Indians already removed by the end of June, the 2026 total could surpass the 2025 figure of 3,779 if the current pace continues.
The development is likely to attract attention among Indian students, workers and families considering Canada for education, employment and migration.
