Artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity have emerged as major priorities at international technology and security forums, with governments, industry leaders and cybersecurity experts calling for stronger regulations and closer global cooperation to address rapidly evolving digital threats.
The growing capabilities of advanced AI systems have sparked renewed debate over how to balance innovation with security. While AI is increasingly being used to improve threat detection, automate cyber defenses and strengthen digital infrastructure, experts warn that the same technology could also be exploited by cybercriminals and hostile state actors.
A recent joint warning by the Five Eyes intelligence alliance which includes the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand said that next generation AI models could significantly increase both offensive and defensive cyber capabilities within months. The alliance urged governments and businesses to strengthen cybersecurity measures and prepare for more sophisticated AI enabled cyber threats.
The issue has also dominated major cybersecurity conferences this year, where experts discussed AI Governance, Cyber resilience, Supply chain security and regulatory frameworks aimed at protecting critical infrastructure and sensitive data.
In India, AI adoption is also accelerating. At the ICAI AI Innovation Summit 2026 in New Delhi, thousands of delegates gathered to discuss the responsible use of AI across accounting, finance, governance, and public services. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India also launched an advanced AI certification program and signed a collaboration agreement with Sarvam AI to promote AI driven innovation.
Analysts say governments are now focusing on developing regulatory frameworks that encourage AI innovation while ensuring transparency, accountability, privacy protection, and cybersecurity. International cooperation is expected to play a key role as countries work to address the global challenges posed by increasingly powerful AI systems.
