The Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) has deported a 36 year old Ugandan national from India after authorities found that she had allegedly overstayed her visa for several years and was associated with individuals involved in drug peddling and other unlawful activities.
According to H-NEW, the woman, identified as Ms. Nabanjja Sharon, was apprehended within the limits of Tolichowki Police Station based on credible information.
Visa expired in 2019
- During the enquiry, authorities found that Sharon had entered India on an e-Tourist Visa on March 6, 2019. Her visa expired on May 4, 2019.
- H-NEW said she continued to stay in India illegally after the expiry of her visa.
- Authorities also alleged that she was associating with drug peddlers and was involved in unlawful activities.
FRRO assistance sought
- Following the enquiry, H-NEW coordinated with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Hyderabad, to initiate the necessary legal and immigration procedures.
- An Exit Permit was obtained to facilitate her removal from the country. Authorities also blacklisted her from future entry into India.
Deported to Uganda
- After completing the required formalities, an H-NEW team escorted Sharon and deported her to Uganda on August 12, 2026.
- The action is part of ongoing enforcement efforts by Hyderabad authorities to identify and act against individuals involved in narcotics related activities and violations of immigration rules.
