AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner to urgently address complaints regarding the collection of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) enumeration forms in Telangana.
Owaisi said his SIR Guidance Desk had received several complaints from people who claimed that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) had told them they would not accept enumeration forms on August 9 and 10 because of public holidays.
According to Owaisi, August 9 is being observed as Bonalu and August 10 as Rangam, both public holidays in Telangana. He said several people became worried after being told that their forms would not be accepted on those days.
Owaisi pointed out that the Election Commission’s deadline for submitting the enumeration forms is August 10. He therefore requested the ECI and GHMC Commissioner to intervene and ensure that eligible voters are not denied an opportunity to submit their forms before the deadline.

Owaisi said the issue was particularly worrying because voters who depend on the final days to complete the SIR process could be affected if forms are not collected during the holiday period.
He urged election authorities to clarify the arrangements immediately and make sure voters have a practical way to submit their forms within the prescribed deadline.

The SIR exercise involves verification of voters through enumeration forms, with BLOs responsible for distributing and collecting forms and assisting voters with the required formalities.
The controversy comes as political parties are actively helping voters during the electoral roll revision process. BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao also said party workers were conducting door to door outreach to help eligible voters and urged vigilance during the revision exercise.
