At least 30 Yemeni government troops were killed and more than 50 others injured after Houthi forces launched coordinated missile and drone attacks on military camps in the provinces of Marib and Hadramout, according to Yemeni government officials. The death toll is expected to rise as rescue and recovery operations continue.
The attacks targeted military positions held by forces aligned with Yemen’s internationally recognized government. Officials said the strikes caused extensive damage to military facilities and equipment, making it one of the deadliest escalations in the country’s conflict since hostilities eased under the de facto truce in 2022.
The Iran-aligned Houthi movement claimed responsibility for the attacks, stating that the strikes were aimed at military camps where government forces were allegedly preparing for new operations. The group claimed to have inflicted heavy casualties, though those figures have not been independently verified.
The Yemeni government strongly condemned the attacks and vowed to respond, describing the strikes as a serious escalation in the country’s long-running conflict. Officials said security forces remain on high alert as investigations and rescue efforts continue.
