New Delhi: Fresh clashes broke out on Parliament Street in the national capital on Wednesday as security forces confronted protesters attempting to continue the CJP-led agitation near Parliament.
According to reports, protesters gathered in large numbers despite heavy security arrangements in the area. Police had erected multiple barricades and restricted access to sensitive zones around Parliament to prevent demonstrators from advancing.
The situation turned tense when some protesters allegedly tried to breach the barricades, leading to confrontations with security personnel. Reports indicate that stones were thrown during the clashes, prompting police to deploy additional forces to restore order and prevent further escalation.
Authorities appealed to demonstrators to maintain peace and comply with security restrictions, while law enforcement personnel continued to monitor the area closely. Security has been intensified across central Delhi, particularly around Parliament Street and other key government buildings.
The latest unrest comes just days after the “Chalo Sansad” protest, which witnessed violent confrontations between protesters and police, resulting in detentions, injuries and multiple FIRs. Investigations into those incidents are still underway.
Meanwhile, the protests have also echoed inside Parliament, where opposition parties continued to demand accountability over the issues that sparked the agitation. Repeated disruptions were reported during proceedings as lawmakers raised concerns over the handling of the protests.
Despite the heavy police presence, protest organizers have indicated that demonstrations will continue, keeping authorities on high alert amid fears of further unrest in the capital.
