A Hyderabad born businessman based in Sharjah has won USD 1 million (approximately ₹9.6 crore) in the latest Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw, becoming one of the newest Indian millionaires through the popular promotion.
Mohammed Ayyubuddin (45), who has been living in Sharjah since 2006, secured the jackpot in Millennium Millionaire Series 549 with ticket number 4144, purchased online on July 3. He owns a light fittings business and has been participating in the Dubai Duty Free promotion for nearly a decade.
Speaking after the win, Ayyubuddin said he had a strong feeling over the past two days that he would win. Thanking Dubai Duty Free, he said the promotion has transformed the lives of many people and encouraged others to keep trying, saying their chance could come one day.
With this victory, Ayyubuddin becomes the 280th Indian national to win the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire promotion since its launch in 1999. Indians continue to be the largest group of participants in the draw, reflecting the promotion’s strong popularity among the Indian community in the UAE.
