Hyderabad Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers

Hyderabad Police have arrested two alleged drug peddlers and seized 2.334 kilograms of ganja during a joint operation conducted by the Bhavani Nagar Police and the Charminar Zone Task Force as part of the city’s ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking.

The operation was carried out on July 2 near the railway track at Road No. 0, Talab Katta, within the limits of Bhavani Nagar Police Station. Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted two men travelling on a red Honda Activa without a registration number. On noticing the police, the suspects allegedly attempted to flee but were quickly apprehended.

During the search, officers recovered 2.334 kg of ganja, five small packets of marijuana, six empty zip lock covers, ₹6,000 in cash, a Honda Activa, and two mobile phones. The seized contraband is valued at approximately ₹54,900.

According to the investigation, the accused had allegedly procured the ganja from a supplier in Nagpur, Maharashtra and transported it to Hyderabad for distribution. Police said the contraband was being packed into small packets for sale to local consumers, particularly in slum areas.

The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammad Nasir alias Chaku Nasir, 43, and Mohammad Mehraj Ali alias Amer, 24. Police said Nasir is a history sheeter with multiple previous cases, including offences under the NDPS Act, the Arms Act, and theft. Mehraj Ali also has previous cases related to ganja trafficking.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and both accused have been produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.

Police are continuing their investigation to trace and arrest the main supplier and other members of the drug trafficking network. Hyderabad City Police reiterated its zero tolerance policy against narcotics and appealed to the public to report any information related to drug trafficking or suspicious activities.
