Six Arrested for Creating Fake Shaadi Mubarak Beneficiaries

In a major crackdown on welfare scheme fraud, the Attapur Police, in coordination with the Rajendranagar Task Force, arrested six persons allegedly involved in creating fake beneficiaries under the Shaadi Mubarak Scheme and siphoning off government funds amounting to nearly ₹21 lakh.

Acting on credible information received on June 12, 2026, police conducted a raid at a house in Fatima Colony, Hassan Nagar. During the operation, officials uncovered an illegal setup used to prepare forged documents for fraudulently availing benefits under the government welfare scheme.

The police seized an ASUS laptop, an HP CPU, a desktop computer, six mobile phones, fake application forms, forged supporting documents, and 21 released cheques collectively valued at approximately ₹21 lakh.

According to the investigation, the prime accused, Md. Etemaad Ul Haq (25), an Aadhaar operator, allegedly used software applications such as Paint and Adobe Photoshop to manipulate photographs, Aadhaar details, marriage certificates and other official records to create fake beneficiary profiles.

The forged applications were reportedly collected and forwarded for processing by co-accused Md. Akbar (20). Police alleged that Dharavath Ashok Kiran (32), a Special Revenue Inspector at the Bandlaguda Tahsil Office, facilitated the approval of these applications without conducting the mandatory field verification process.

Further inquiry revealed that Syed Musharaf Uddin (23), Mohammed Sarfaraz (26) and Mohammed Jaffer (23) assisted in identifying fake beneficiaries, fabricating supporting documents, arranging bank account details and sharing the money obtained through the fraudulent claims.

Police stated that the accused had cheated the government by illegally obtaining funds meant for genuine beneficiaries under the Shaadi Mubarak Scheme.

A case has been registered at Attapur Police Station under Crime No. 708/2026 under Sections 318(4), 319(2), 336(3), 340(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). All six accused have been arrested and are being produced before the competent court.

The police have advised the public not to pay money to individuals claiming to facilitate benefits under government welfare schemes and urged citizens to immediately report such demands to the authorities.
