The sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, Shamshabad Zone Team, along with the Pahadishareef Police, arrested two persons allegedly involved in a series of auto rickshaw and vehicle battery theft cases across Hyderabad and nearby districts.
The arrested accused were identified as Mohd Akber (35), a labourer from Chintalmet, Bahadurpura and Faizullah Khan alias Faiz (42), a flower businessman from Mahmood Nagar, Kishanbagh. Another accused, Mohd Hameeduddin alias Imran (27), an auto driver from Jirrah, Hyderabad, is currently absconding.
Police seized three Bajaj passenger auto rickshaws and nine vehicle batteries, including tractor and DCM batteries, collectively valued at around Rs 7 lakh.
According to investigators, the accused are habitual offenders and were previously involved in vehicle battery theft cases registered under the limits of Adibatla Police Station. During their remand period at Central Prison Chanchalguda, they allegedly came into contact with Faizullah Khan and later conspired to commit further property offences after being released.
Police said the trio was involved in multiple auto rickshaw thefts in Jadcherla, Mahabubnagar Rural and Mahabubnagar Town areas. They later shifted their focus to stealing batteries from parked DCM and tractor vehicles in Medchal, Tukkuguda and Maheshwaram areas.
Several theft cases related to auto-rickshaws and vehicle batteries were registered against the accused at police stations in Maheshwaram, Medchal, Pahadishareef, Jadcherla and Mahabubnagar.
Acting on credible information, the Shamshabad Zone Task Force, in coordination with Pahadishareef Police, apprehended the accused and recovered the stolen property. Police teams are continuing efforts to trace and arrest the absconding accused.
Officials stated that Mohd Akber is involved in three property offence cases, while Faizullah Khan has reportedly been linked to fifteen such cases.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Inspector K. Venkat Reddy along with DI Debora of Pahadishareef, SI K. Naga Raju, SI S. Seshu, and personnel of the Shamshabad Zone Task Force and Pahadishareef Police.
