The Government of India has intensified evacuation efforts to ensure the safety of its nationals stranded in Iran amid the ongoing West Asia crisis. Officials confirmed that over 2,300 Indians have been safely brought back home since the conflict began.
The evacuees include a large number of students, along with fishermen and other workers who were living in different parts of Iran. A small number of foreign nationals were also assisted during the operation.
The evacuation has been carried out in a phased and coordinated manner, primarily through land routes via neighboring countries such as Armenia and Azerbaijan. From there, Indian authorities arranged onward travel for citizens to return home safely.
Officials said the operation involved close coordination between Indian embassies, local authorities, and international partners to ensure safe passage despite the volatile situation in the region. The government has also been issuing advisories, urging Indian nationals in Iran to remain cautious and stay in contact with diplomatic missions.
The evacuation drive comes against the backdrop of rising military tensions and disruptions in the region, which have affected travel routes and safety conditions. Authorities estimate that thousands of Indians were present in Iran when the crisis began, and efforts are ongoing to assist those who still wish to leave.
India has reiterated its commitment to the safety of its citizens abroad, stating that evacuation and support operations will continue as long as required.
