BRS leader K. Kavitha has said that the name “TRS” is now free and can be used by anyone, following the party’s earlier decision to rename itself as Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
Speaking on the issue, Kavitha explained that the party officially moved away from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) identity when it expanded its national ambitions and adopted the new name. As a result, the old “TRS” title is no longer being used by the party.
She indicated that since the party has fully transitioned to BRS, the TRS name is effectively open and not being claimed for active political use. Her remarks have sparked fresh political discussions, with questions emerging over whether any new group or regional outfit might adopt the TRS name in the future.
The renaming of TRS to BRS was seen as a major political move aimed at expanding the party’s presence beyond Telangana. However, the latest statement has brought attention back to the party’s earlier identity and its legacy in state politics.
There has been no official announcement from election authorities regarding any new party registering under the TRS name so far. Still, Kavitha’s comments have added a new dimension to the ongoing political debate in Telangana.
