Panic briefly gripped Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad after authorities received an anonymous email warning of a possible bomb threat. Security agencies immediately launched extensive checks across the airport premises, leading to delays and heightened security measures.
Officials said the threat was directed at a Singapore bound international flight scheduled to depart from the airport. As a precaution, passengers were asked to disembark while bomb detection and disposal teams conducted thorough inspections of the Aircraft, Baggage and Surrounding areas.
The intensive security checks lasted several hours, causing the flight to be delayed by nearly 13 hours. Airport authorities coordinated with airline staff to ensure passenger safety while the investigation was carried out.
After completing the inspections and finding no suspicious objects, officials declared the threat a hoax and cleared the aircraft for departure. Authorities have launched an investigation to trace the source of the email and identify those responsible for the false alarm.
Security remains on high alert at the airport as officials work to prevent similar incidents in the future.
