Indian Railways has announced the cancellation of 24 long distance trains for the winter season effective from December 1, 2025 to March 3, 2026 due to heavy fog conditions across North India. The decision issued by the East Central Railway (ECR) comes as dense fog continues to impact visibility and disrupt safe train operations during early morning and late night hours.
Reason for the Cancellations
North India experiences severe fog during December February every year causing signal failures slower train movement and high chances of delays and operational risks. Railway officials stated that cancelling selected long distance trains helps ensure Passenger Safety and allows better management of congestion during low visibility periods.

The cancelled services include trains connecting major cities such as:
- Prayagraj
- Muzaffarpur
- Kolkata
- Jhansi
- Dehradun
- New Delhi
- Ambala
- Amritsar
- Dibrugarh
- Chandigarh
- Kamakhya
- Gaya
- Hatia
- Anand Vihar
The cancellations cover both directions for several routes affecting thousands of daily passengers.

When Will Services Resume?
All 24 trains will resume operations After March 3, 2026 depending on improvement in fog conditions and restoration of safe operational visibility.
