Telangana Government Revises Auto Rickshaw Fares; Minimum Fare Increased to ₹30

The Telangana Government has issued orders revising auto rickshaw fares across the state, fixing the minimum fare at ₹30 for the first 1.6 kilometres and ₹14 for every subsequent kilometre.

The revised fare structure was notified through G.O.Ms.No.46, dated October 2, 2026, by the Transport, Roads and Buildings (TR-I) Department, under Section 67 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

According to the government notification, the revised tariff will apply to auto-rickshaws registered and operating in Telangana.

Revised Auto Rickshaw Fare Structure

The government has prescribed the following charges:

  • Minimum Fare: ₹30 for the first 1.6 kilometres.
  • Additional Distance: ₹14 for every subsequent kilometre.
  • Waiting Charges: ₹0.75 per minute.
  • Night Charges: 1.5 times the normal fare for journeys between 11:00 PM and 5:00 AM.

Luggage Charges

The notification also specifies luggage related conditions:

  • Luggage should accompany the passenger.
  • A charge of ₹0.50 per package will apply, except for a briefcase, handbag, or attached case or bag smaller than 60 × 40 cm.
  • The maximum permitted luggage weight is 100 kilograms.

Digital Meter Resetting and Implementation

  • The Transport Commissioner has been given three months from the date of issuance of the order to ensure that existing digital meters are reset according to the revised tariff.
  • Until the meters are updated, auto-rickshaws must display the approved tariff card showing the existing and revised fares.
  • The Transport Commissioner, Telangana, Hyderabad, has been directed to take further necessary action to implement the revised fare structure.
  • The order was issued in the name of the Governor of Telangana and signed by Vikas Raj, Special Chief Secretary to the Government.

The revised fare notification is applicable statewide, while the three-month period has been provided for updating existing digital meters.
