The Hyderabad Police have busted a marijuana smuggling and distribution network, seizing 8.410 kg of dry marijuana (ganja) along with a two-wheeler, three weighing machines, a poly sealing machine, packing materials, and mobile phones. Four accused have been arrested, while efforts are underway to trace another absconding suspect.
During the investigation, police found that the main accused procured marijuana from Nagpur, Maharashtra, transported it to Hyderabad, and distributed it in small packets through a sub-peddler. The investigation further revealed that the remaining accused had come to purchase marijuana from the network for further distribution.
The operation was carried out by the Attapur Police under the supervision of Rajendranagar Zone DCP S. Srinivas, IPS, with guidance from Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, Rajendranagar ACP T. Srinivas, and Attapur Inspector A. Sitayya.
The arrested accused have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody. Police have launched a search operation to apprehend the absconding suspect and are continuing the investigation to identify any additional persons linked to the drug trafficking network.
Senior police officials commended the investigating team for successfully detecting the racket and preventing a significant quantity of narcotics from reaching the city’s illegal drug market. The Hyderabad Police reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against drug traffickers and urged citizens to cooperate by reporting any information related to narcotics trafficking.
