US-based local commerce and food delivery company DoorDash has opened its first office in India in Hyderabad, with plans to expand its workforce in the city to more than 3,000 professionals over the next two years.
The new global technology and talent hub was inaugurated in HITEC City on September 30. The facility has initially started operations with around 500 professionals and will support DoorDash’s global operations.
Customer Experience and Integrity Hub
- The Hyderabad centre will initially house Customer Experience and Integrity (CXI) and General and Administrative (G&A) teams.
- The CXI operation will be DoorDash’s third company owned internal service centre globally, after its centres in Tempe, Arizona, and Mexico City.
- Teams in Hyderabad will support DoorDash’s global operations, including services for consumers, merchants and delivery partners, known as Dashers. The company also indicated that specialised capabilities such as integrity, fraud review and technical operations could be added over time.
3,000 Plus Jobs Planned
- DoorDash is starting the Hyderabad operation with approximately 500 employees, but the company plans to increase its headcount to more than 3,000 within the next two years.
- The planned expansion is expected to create opportunities across customer experience, operations, administration and potentially specialised technology and integrity functions as the centre develops.
- However, the announcement does not mean that all 3,000 positions are immediately open for recruitment. The company plans to scale the workforce over a two year period.
Hyderabad to Support DoorDash’s Global Operations
- DoorDash said employees at the Hyderabad centre will support a global platform serving more than 56 million monthly active consumers across markets.
- The company operates in more than 40 countries and reported more than $100 billion in Marketplace Gross Order Value (GOV) in 2025, according to company information cited by Business Standard and other reports.
- The Hyderabad hub therefore represents more than a local customer-support operation; it is being positioned as part of DoorDash’s wider global operations network.
DoorDash Already Has a Presence in Pune
- The Hyderabad office is DoorDash’s second technology office in India.
- The company already has operations in Pune, where its teams work in areas including software, data and analytics. Those operations are connected to DoorDash’s 2021 acquisition of robotics startup Chowbotics.
- With Hyderabad, DoorDash is expanding its Indian presence into customer experience, integrity and administrative operations.
Why Hyderabad?
- Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu said DoorDash’s decision to establish the hub reflects Hyderabad’s growing position as a global talent and technology centre.
- DoorDash representatives said Hyderabad’s Talent pool, Technology ecosystem and Environment for global capability centres (GCCs) were important factors in selecting the city for its long-term India operations.
- The Telangana government says Hyderabad currently has more than 500 GCCs, with more than 5 lakh people working in the sector. The state has also set targets for attracting additional GCCs and increasing high value employment. These figures are government estimates and should be understood in that context.
What This Means for Hyderabad
- DoorDash’s expansion adds another major international company to Hyderabad’s growing technology and GCC ecosystem.
The planned workforce expansion could create opportunities for professionals in areas such as:
- Customer experience and support
- Business operations
- General and administrative functions
- Integrity and fraud review
- Technology-related operations
- Other specialised global support functions
The exact job categories and recruitment schedules are expected to develop as the Hyderabad centre expands.
