Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has issued a notification removing Smt. Konda Surekha from the Telangana Council of Ministers with immediate effect.
According to the notification issued by the General Administration (Political-B) Department, the Governor exercised powers under Article 164(1) of the Constitution of India and acted on the advice of the Chief Minister.
The notification, issued as an Extraordinary issue of the Telangana Gazette on September 3, 2026, states that Konda Surekha “Ceases to be a Minister” with immediate effect.
The order was issued by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and countersigned by Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju.
What the notification says
- The government order refers to earlier orders issued by the General Administration Department in December 2023. It formally communicates the change to various Telangana government departments, constitutional authorities and other officials.
- The notification has also been sent to the Telangana Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly, High Court of Telangana, State Election Commission, Chief Electoral Officer, Lokayukta, Accountant General and other concerned offices.
Konda Surekha removed from Cabinet
- With the Governor’s notification, Konda Surekha is no longer a member of the Telangana Council of Ministers, effective immediately.
- The notification does not provide details in the order itself about the political reasons behind the decision. It specifically states that the Governor took the decision on the advice of the Chief Minister.
