Suryapet: Two people, including a police constable, have been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of a couple in Suryapet district, Telangana. Police said the double murder took place on the outskirts of Mothey village on the night of August 11.
The victims, identified as a couple in their mid 40s, were allegedly killed and their bodies partially buried in separate pits in an agricultural field. Local residents noticed the buried bodies the following day and alerted the police.
Bodies Found in Agricultural Field
- After receiving information, police reached the location along with local officials and recovered the bodies from the field.
- Police teams collected evidence from the scene and examined CCTV footage and other technical evidence as part of the investigation.
- According to police, the case was cracked within 24 hours and two suspects were taken into custody near the new bus stand in Suryapet.
₹3 Lakh Financial Dispute
- Police said the couple had previously approached the Mothey police station in connection with family related disputes.
- According to the police version, the couple had told the constable that their son in law was allegedly troubling them over money. The constable subsequently provided them around ₹3 lakh as financial assistance.
- Police allege that when the money was not repaid and the couple allegedly threatened to lodge a complaint against him, the constable decided to eliminate them.
Couple Allegedly Lured to Outskirts
- Investigators said the accused allegedly devised a plan to take the couple to an isolated location.
- The constable reportedly told the couple about a sheep loan related inspection and persuaded them to take sheep to land on the outskirts of the village.
- Police allege that the man was taken to the location on a two wheeler along with the second accused. While he was digging a pit, the accused allegedly attacked him with a stone, resulting in his death.
- The body was then allegedly buried in the pit.
- Police said the accused later brought the man’s wife to the same location on the pretext of taking photographs. She was allegedly attacked and killed before her body was also buried.
- The woman’s jewellery was also allegedly taken, according to the police.
CCTV and Technical Evidence Help Investigation
- Police said CCTV footage and technical evidence played a key role in identifying the suspects.
- The two accused were subsequently apprehended near the new bus stand in Suryapet.
- During interrogation, police said, the accused confessed to their involvement in the crime.
