Osmania University has postponed all examinations scheduled for July 24 across various faculties due to the statewide education bandh called by student organisations in Telangana. The university said revised examination dates will be announced later and students are advised to wait for the updated schedule.
Why was the Telangana bandh called?
The bandh was called by the National Students Union of India (NSUI) Telangana, along with several student organisations, including SFI, AISF, PDSU and other groups.
The student organisations are protesting:
- The alleged police lathi charge and use of force against students during recent protests in New Delhi.
- The Central government’s handling of education related issues, including alleged examination irregularities.
The protesters are demanding:
- Resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
- Abolition of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
- Action against those responsible for the alleged police action on students.
- Protection of students right to peaceful protest.
Osmania University said the examinations have been postponed to ensure the smooth conduct of exams in view of the bandh. Students have been advised to regularly check the university’s official notifications for the revised examination schedule.
