Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force, Charminar Zone, in coordination with Warasiguda Police, arrested three people for allegedly using the same vehicle registration number on three different Honda Activa scooters to evade law enforcement and mislead government authorities.
The accused were found using the registration number TS09 FE 4997 on all three scooters. During verification, police discovered that one of the vehicles was an unregistered financed scooter, and the duplicate number plates had been affixed to prevent the vehicle from being identified and repossessed by the financing company.
Police said the accused used identical registration numbers on all three vehicles to avoid traffic challans and escape enforcement action. The fraud came to light during a verification drive conducted by the Task Force and local police.
During the operation, officials seized all three Honda Activa scooters bearing the same registration number.
A case has been registered at Warasiguda Police Station under Sections 318(4) and 316(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police have launched a detailed investigation to determine whether the accused were involved in any other offences using the duplicate registration plates.
