Tehran: Iran has announced it has no plans to engage in further negotiations with the United States, marking a significant setback for ongoing diplomatic efforts between the two countries.
Speaking on behalf of the foreign ministry, Esmail Baghaei said Tehran currently sees no basis for continuing talks, citing a deep lack of trust in Washington’s intentions.
Iranian officials accuse the US of undermining diplomacy through continued pressure and actions they describe as hostile. Among the key flashpoints is the reported seizure of an Iranian-linked cargo vessel near the Strait of Hormuz, a move Tehran has strongly condemned.
The situation has further complicated already fragile ceasefire conditions, with both sides blaming each other for violations. Planned discussions, expected to be mediated by Pakistan, now appear unlikely to take place.
Analysts warn that the breakdown in talks could heighten instability in the region, particularly around critical oil shipping routes, and increase the risk of further escalation.
For now, Iran’s stance signals a pause in diplomatic engagement, with no clear path forward for renewed negotiations.
