Woman to 10 Years in Trafficking Case

A Hyderabad court has convicted a 45 year old woman in a long pending immoral trafficking case registered at Musheerabad Police Station.

The II Additional Sessions Judge found the accused, Kalpana Goswamy, guilty under Section 370 of the IPC and relevant provisions of the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act, 1956. The case dates back to 2017.

The court sentenced her to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹4,000.

Officials said the conviction was achieved through coordinated efforts by the Victim Assistance Unit of the Women Safety Wing, Hyderabad. The team provided continuous support and counseling to the victim and worked closely with the investigating officer and court staff to ensure a strong case.

Police authorities stated that the judgment highlights their commitment to tackling human trafficking and ensuring justice for victims.
