FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that Iran will take part in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, emphasizing that the team earned its spot on merit.

During a press briefing, Infantino described Iran as “Football crazy” and made it clear there would be no Plan B. “There is no Plan B, only Plan A: Iran’s participation” he said.

2026 World Cup Details

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will kick off on June 8, 2026, and run until July 8, 2026. For the first time, the tournament will be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada and Mexico, with matches held across 16 cities in North America. The expanded tournament will feature 48 teams, offering a broader platform for international competition.
