Five Held in Brutal Mangalhat Murder Case

In a major breakthrough, the Mangalhat Police Station has arrested five members of a gang in connection with the brutal murder of Rushab Agarwal, also known as Sunny Agarwal, which took place in Aramghar Colony under the Mangalhat limits.

The arrested accused have been identified as Munna Singh, Laddu Singh alias Laddu, Maddur Pranaya Kumar, Thippani Uday Kiran alias Uday, and Kushangal Om Prakash. Police said three other accused Aminesh Singh alias Amresh, Kunal Singh, and Mamu are currently absconding, and special teams have been formed to trace and arrest them.

Murder Driven by Suspicion

According to investigators, the prime accused Munna Singh, a real estate and finance businessman, suspected the victim of maintaining links with a rival group after learning that Rushab Agarwal had recently been released from jail. Acting on this suspicion, the accused allegedly kidnapped and confined the victim in a shed, where he was assaulted.

Police revealed that the victim was later shifted to a Ganesh idol making unit at Aramghar, where all the accused allegedly participated in brutally assaulting him again. Due to severe internal injuries sustained during the attack, Rushab Agarwal died on the spot.

In an attempt to destroy evidence, the accused reportedly shifted the body to another location and fled the scene.

Case Registered, Evidence Traced Through CCTV

Following a complaint lodged by the deceased’s mother, police registered a case in Crime No. 88/2026 under Section 103(1) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

During the investigation, police meticulously analysed CCTV footage from multiple locations, which helped identify the accused and trace their movements before and after the crime.

Arrests and Seizures

On 27 February 2026, around 2:00 pm, police teams apprehended the five accused. During the operation, they seized:

  • Three mobile phones
  • Two Activa two wheelers allegedly used in the commission of the offence

The arrested accused were produced before the Hon’ble Court and remanded to judicial custody.

Police Supervision and Ongoing Hunt

The arrests were carried out under the supervision of senior officers, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Golconda Zone, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kulsumpura Division, and officials of the Mangalhat police station. Police personnel involved in the operation included the Station House Officer, inspectors, sub-inspectors and supporting staff.

Authorities confirmed that efforts are intensifying to nab the remaining absconding accused and further arrests are expected soon.

The case has sent shockwaves through the locality, with police reiterating their commitment to act firmly against organized crime and violent offences in Hyderabad.
