A Kerala-based businessman was shot in the leg and robbed of ₹6 lakh at an ATM in Koti, Hyderabad on Saturday morning, prompting the Hyderabad City Police to launch a full-scale investigation.
Incident Details:
The victim, Sri Rinshad P.V. (26), a readymade kids clothing trader from Kozhikode, Kerala, was at the SBI Main Branch ATM, Bank Street, Koti, around 7 a.m., to deposit cash collected for wholesale purchases at Dewan Devdi. According to his complaint, two unidentified assailants approached from behind, pressed a firearm against his abdomen and fired two rounds, one of which struck his right leg. The suspects then snatched the cash bag and vehicle keys, fleeing in Rinshad’s car (TS 08 HN 8582) before abandoning it near Kachiguda and escaping on foot after changing clothes.
Police Action:
A case has been registered at Sultanbazar Police Station (FIR No. 28/2026) under Sections 109 (Attempt to Murder), 309 (Robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 27 of the Arms Act, 1959.
The Hyderabad City Police have constituted four special crime teams to investigate the incident. Officers are analyzing CCTV footage, tracing technical evidence, and coordinating with neighbouring jurisdictions to track down the suspects.
“Ensuring the safety of citizens is our top priority. All resources are being deployed to apprehend the perpetrators at the earliest,” a police spokesperson said.
Victim Status:
Rinshad P.V. is currently receiving treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
