Telangana Launches Global AI Innovation Body ‘AIKAM’ at Davos

At the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, the Telangana government unveiled a new autonomous AI innovation entity named AIKAM. The launch was led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accompanied by senior state ministers.

AIKAM is designed to serve as a global platform for artificial intelligence innovation, testing and deployment at scale. The government aims to position Telangana among the top 20 AI innovation hubs in the world and support large scale adoption of AI technologies across industries, research and society.

Unlike traditional centres focused solely on research or policy, AIKAM is envisioned as an execution oriented ecosystem that brings together several components:

  • Mass skilling and workforce development to build a large pool of AI-ready talent.
  • Support for startups and AI-based product companies through acceleration and funding.
  • Partnerships between academia, research institutions and industry to bridge the gap between ideas and real world applications.
  • Access to public datasets and compute infrastructure, backed by a dedicated AI Fund of Funds to help build and scale solutions.
  • Responsible AI governance standards, including the launch of the inaugural Responsible AI Standard and Ethics (RAISE) Index to guide ethical AI development and deployment.

Chief Minister Reddy said that Telangana believes in an execution first approach to AI-taking innovations out of pilot phases and applying them at population scale with transparency and trust. He invited global partners to anchor their AI development and deployment proving grounds in Telangana.

IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu added that the state will support the initiative with access to large public datasets, advanced computing infrastructure, and financial backing, aimed at translating ideas into scalable solutions.

Several international partnerships and MoUs were announced on the sidelines of the launch, including commitments from global companies in AI skilling, startup collaboration, research and applied technology. These alliances are expected to strengthen Telangana’s position in the global AI ecosystem and accelerate innovation across sectors like healthcare, education, and enterprise solutions.

Overall, the launch of AIKAM reflects Telangana’s ambition to be a major global player in artificial intelligence, combining innovation, execution, ethics, and global collaboration under one unified platform.
