Hyderabad Police Conduct Massive Operation Kavach

In a major city wide security operation, Hyderabad Police carried out an intensive overnight inspection drive titled “Operation Kavach” The exercise took place across nearly 150 key points in the city and involved close to 5,000 police personnel from various wings including Law & Order, Traffic, Task Force and Armed Reserve.

What Happened

The inspections were carried out between 10:30 pm and 1:00 am, during which police checked around 15,000 vehicles.
Out of these approximately 1,600 vehicles were seized due to the absence of valid documents such as Driving licence, RC, Insurance or Emission certificates.

Police teams also recovered About half a kilogram of ganja from a motorist in the Tukaram Gate area leading to immediate detention.

During the operation:

  • Eight individuals were detained for various violations
  • 105 petty cases were registered
  • Several persons were booked for suspicious movement or lack of identity proof

Why the Operation Was Conducted

Senior officials said that Operation Kavach is part of a larger strategy to enhance night time security, curb illegal activities and ensure compliance with traffic and safety norms. The aim is to prevent crimes such as Drug transport, Vehicle theft and Movement of suspicious individuals.

Supervision

City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar personally visited several locations and later monitored the checks from the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre using real time CCTV footage.

Future Plans

Police officials confirmed that such operations will be conducted Regularly across Hyderabad to maintain strong public safety and deter criminal activity.
