SIR House to House Enumeration to Begin from June 25

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will begin the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana from June 25, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) conducting house-to-house enumeration across the state to verify and update voter records. The exercise will continue until July 24.

Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy said the enumeration process will be carried out strictly according to ECI guidelines and that no extension will be granted beyond July 24. The exercise is aimed at ensuring that electoral rolls remain accurate and updated ahead of future elections.

As part of the drive, nearly 36,000 Booth Level Officers will visit every household in the state to distribute and collect pre-filled enumeration forms. BLOs will assist voters in verifying personal details and correcting any errors in the electoral records. If a house is found locked, officials will make at least three visits before completing the process.

Officials clarified that voters whose names are not found in the 2002 electoral rolls will not automatically be removed from the voter list. Such voters can continue to remain enrolled by submitting the required information during the verification process. The CEO has also stressed that the exercise is intended to identify duplicate, shifted, deceased and ineligible entries while ensuring that all eligible voters remain on the rolls.

The Election Commission has provided both offline and online options for participation. Voters can submit forms through BLOs or use online voter services for verification and corrections. Help desks and the voter helpline will also be available to assist citizens throughout the process.

Following completion of the enumeration exercise, the draft electoral rolls will be published on July 31. Citizens will then have an opportunity to file claims and objections until August 30, after which the final electoral roll is expected to be published on October 1, 2026.

Political parties and election officials have been advised to cooperate fully to ensure that the revision process is completed transparently and efficiently. The Election Commission says the exercise is crucial for maintaining a clean and accurate voter database across Telangana.
