Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force, Shamshabad Zone Team, along with Balapur Police, has apprehended three persons allegedly involved in the printing and circulation of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) in Hyderabad.
Police seized counterfeit currency notes with a total face value of ₹2,91,100, along with a colour printer, scanner, laminator, paper cutting tools and other materials allegedly used to prepare the fake notes.
Three Arrested, One Suspect Absconding
The arrested persons were identified as:
- Ramavath Ramu @ Mohammed, 36, a delivery worker, resident of Chinthal Thanda, Vaddipatla.
- Ramavath Mothilal, 35, a Rapido driver from the same locality.
- Ramavath Gandhi, 19, an auto driver and nephew of Ramu.
Police said another person, Sudheer John Chela @ Vamshi, from Nagole, Bandlaguda, is currently absconding.
How the Gang Allegedly Operated
- According to police, Ramu allegedly decided to make money through illegal activities after facing financial difficulties. During the investigation, police found that Ramu and Mothilal allegedly learnt about making counterfeit currency through videos and online contacts.
- Police said the accused procured an Epson colour printer, scanner, bond papers and other materials and allegedly began producing counterfeit Indian currency notes. They reportedly attempted to reproduce security features, including watermark like designs, on the fake notes.
- The counterfeit notes were allegedly circulated in small quantities at wine shops and vegetable markets, particularly during night hours. Police also said efforts were made to circulate the notes through the younger accused, Gandhi.
Counterfeit Currency and Equipment Seized
The seized property includes:
- 437 fake ₹500 notes
- 648 fake ₹100 notes
- 39 fake ₹200 notes
- Fake currency with a total face value of ₹2,91,100
- Original ₹500 and ₹100 notes allegedly used as references for copying
- Epson L6460 colour printer
- Epson colour image scanner
- Zebronics laminator
- Paper cutter and other tools
- Coloured liquids and wrapping materials
- White paper bundles
- Printed Gandhi figure papers and watermark papers
- Three smartphones
- A motorcycle bearing registration number TG 07 BE 9434
- Other materials allegedly used in preparing the counterfeit notes
Police said the accused persons and seized material have been handed over to Balapur Police Station for further investigation.
The operation was carried out by the Commissioner’s Task Force, Shamshabad Zone Team, and Balapur Police under the supervision of senior police officials and with the support of Task Force and Balapur Police personnel.
Police said further investigation is underway, including efforts to trace the absconding accused and determine the full extent of the counterfeit currency network.
