Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed election authorities across Telangana to organise special voter enrolment camps on October 15 and 16 to help eligible citizens whose names are missing from the draft electoral rolls.
The initiative aims to ensure that eligible voters, particularly young people and first time voters, get an opportunity to register and participate in the democratic process.
Camps at Every Polling Station
- According to media reports, Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharsan Reddy has instructed the Hyderabad District Election Officer and district collectors across the state to ensure that special camps are conducted at every polling station on both days.
- Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be present to assist applicants, while Booth Level Agents (BLAs) representing recognised political parties have also been asked to participate.
- Eligible citizens whose names do not appear in the draft electoral rolls can submit Form 6 to apply for inclusion in the voter list. Applications will be examined under the prescribed electoral registration procedures.
Special Drive to Identify Missing Voters
- As part of the initiative, BLOs have been instructed to compare the current draft electoral rolls with earlier voter lists to identify people whose names appeared in previous records but are missing from the latest draft list.
- Officials will prepare booth wise lists and conduct door to door visits to verify the status of identified voters. Eligible individuals will be assisted with the application process wherever necessary.
- BLOs have reportedly been asked to contact at least 20-25 identified electors each week, with the verification exercise planned over approximately one month.
- The drive will also focus on young and first-time voters who have not yet registered.
Special Assistance for Vulnerable Communities
- Election authorities have also been instructed to increase awareness about the enrolment process through educational institutions, public communication and social media.
- Additional camps may be organised to assist people living in labour colonies, night shelters and other locations, including homeless and marginalised communities.
- District Election Officers and Electoral Registration Officers will monitor the progress of the initiative. Booth wise lists and field verification reports will be shared with the relevant authorities and recognised political parties to help identify eligible voters who may have been left out.
When Will the Final Voter List Be Published?
- According to reports published on October 13 and 14, applications received during the special camps will be processed according to the prescribed rules, with the final electoral roll scheduled for publication on November 9, 2026.
- The submission of an application does not automatically guarantee inclusion; the application must be verified and processed by the competent election authority.
What Should Eligible Citizens Do?
Citizens who believe their names are missing from the draft voter list should:
- Visit their designated polling station on October 15 or 16.
- Contact the Booth Level Officer for assistance.
- Submit Form 6 if they are eligible and need inclusion in the electoral roll.
- Check their voter registration status through official Election Commission services.
- Follow official instructions regarding supporting documents and verification.
The special drive provides an opportunity for eligible citizens to check their registration status and seek inclusion in the electoral roll before the final list is published.
