Hyderabad: BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) and former minister T. Harish Rao were detained by police outside the Telangana Assembly during a protest by BRS leaders.

The BRS leaders gathered near Gun Park and marched towards the Assembly wearing black T-shirts. The protest was aimed at highlighting what the party described as the Congress government’s failure to fulfil its election promises.

Police stopped the BRS leaders from entering the Assembly premises. A confrontation reportedly took place between the protesters and security personnel near the Assembly gates.

KTR, Harish Rao and other BRS leaders were subsequently taken into police custody and shifted from the spot.

The BRS leaders criticised the Congress government and alleged that several election promises had not been fulfilled. They said they would continue to raise the issue during the Assembly session.

The incident also affected traffic movement around the Assembly area for some time.

Police described the action as a detention during the protest. There was no immediate indication that the leaders were arrested in connection with a criminal case.
