An AI-generated video is once again circulating on social media with false claims that it shows an Iranian missile strike on a United States military base in Kuwait following Iran’s recent attacks across Gulf countries. However, there is no evidence that the footage depicts a real event.
The video has been widely shared across multiple social media platforms, with posts claiming it captures a recent attack on a US military installation in Kuwait. Fact checkers have confirmed that these claims are false and that the footage was created using artificial intelligence.
An earlier investigation by AFP Fact Check concluded that the video was AI-generated and not authentic. The analysis identified several visual inconsistencies commonly associated with AI-generated content, including distorted shadows, malformed military vehicles, disappearing soldiers, and objects that change shape between frames.
Investigators also noted that the video carries the “GEM” logo, associated with a content creation network that openly states it produces AI-generated visual media. This further confirms that the footage is synthetic and not a recording of an actual military incident.
The same video first appeared online in March 2026, when it was falsely linked to Iran’s missile and drone strikes targeting US military bases in the Gulf. At that time, fact checkers debunked the claim, confirming that the video had been generated using artificial intelligence and was being misleadingly presented as genuine footage.
Despite being repeatedly debunked, the clip has resurfaced following renewed tensions in the Middle East, with users falsely claiming it shows a recent strike on a US base in Kuwait. No official statements or credible evidence support these claims.
Experts warn that AI-generated videos are increasingly being used to spread misinformation during periods of conflict and crisis. They advise the public to verify viral content through trusted news organizations and official government sources before sharing it online.
