As part of its ongoing drive to curb illegal activities and strengthen community policing, the Hyderabad City Police conducted a Community Contact Programme (Cordon and Search Operation – CASO) on Monday evening in the Chatrinaka Police Station limits of the Charminar Zone.

The operation was carried out based on credible information about the illegal sale of liquor in the Mekala Mandi area. It was conducted under the supervision of Sri Kiran Khare, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Charminar Zone, with the objective of detecting illegal liquor trade, verifying suspicious persons and vehicles, preventing criminal activities, and enhancing public confidence in policing.

A large police contingent participated in the operation, including 2 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), 9 Circle Inspectors (CIs), 13 Sub-Inspectors (SIs), and 159 police personnel. The force was deployed through seven search parties, four cut-off parties, four lifting parties, and one holding point to ensure comprehensive coverage of the locality.

Police conducted systematic house-to-house searches, verified suspicious individuals, checked vehicles, and inspected premises suspected of being involved in unlawful activities.

Illegal Liquor Seized

During the special drive, police seized 14 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and 105 liquor bottles allegedly intended for illegal sale. Officials said legal action is being initiated against those involved under the relevant provisions of law.

Vehicles and LPG Cylinders Seized

As part of the verification drive, police also seized 25 two-wheelers found without valid documents or under suspicious circumstances for further investigation. Additionally, two LPG gas cylinders suspected to be stored without proper authorization were seized for enquiry.

Suspects Verified

Police identified and verified four suspects during the operation as part of preventive policing measures. Officials stated that appropriate legal action will be taken wherever violations are established.

The Charminar Zonal Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and ensuring the safety of citizens. Officials said such Cordon and Search Operations (CASO) will continue regularly to deter criminal activities and strengthen public security across the city.
