Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police conducted a Mega Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the Patdhiwada and Fathenagar areas under the limits of Sanathnagar Police Station on Sunday evening following credible information about the illegal sale of liquor and ganja consumption.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Jubilee Hills Zone DCP A. Ramana Reddy, with senior officers and police personnel forming dedicated search, cut-off, lifting and holding teams to ensure effective enforcement and maintain law and order.
During the operation, police seized 25 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and 82 liquor bottles that were allegedly being sold illegally from two belt shops. Two persons involved in the illegal liquor trade were arrested.
The H-NEW Team also conducted tests on 15 individuals suspected of consuming ganja. Five persons tested positive and were taken into custody. Police said legal action under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act is being initiated against them.
In addition, police seized 35 two wheelers and five three wheelers that were found without valid documents for further verification.
Hyderabad Police said such special enforcement drives will continue to curb illegal activities, strengthen public safety and maintain law and order across the city.
