Hyderabad Traffic Police have booked 669 people for drunk driving during a special enforcement drive conducted over the weekend.
According to officials, the checks were carried out at multiple locations across the city as part of efforts to improve road safety and prevent accidents. Drivers were tested using breath analyzers, and those found under the influence of alcohol were immediately booked.
Police said such drives are conducted regularly, especially during weekends, when cases of drunk driving tend to increase. Authorities also warned that strict action will be taken against offenders, including fines, court cases, and possible suspension of driving licences.
Officials added that drunk driving remains one of the major causes of road accidents, putting not only the driver but also others at risk.
The police have urged citizens to avoid driving after consuming alcohol and to use safer options like cabs or designated drivers.
This crackdown highlights the city’s continued focus on enforcing traffic rules and ensuring public safety on the roads.
