Massive Crackdown in Telangana: Over 3,700 Illegal LPG Cylinders Seized

In a major enforcement operation, authorities in Telangana have seized more than 3,700 illegal LPG cylinders, uncovering a widespread network involved in unauthorized gas storage and distribution.

Officials said the raids were carried out across multiple locations after receiving intelligence about illegal refilling and black-market sales of domestic LPG cylinders. These activities are considered dangerous and illegal, as they often bypass essential safety checks and government regulations.

According to preliminary findings, many of the seized cylinders were being used for commercial purposes without proper authorization. In some cases, domestic LPG cylinders—meant for household use at subsidized rates—were reportedly diverted and sold to small businesses such as hotels and eateries at higher prices.

Authorities also discovered unsafe storage conditions at several sites. Cylinders were stacked in congested spaces without proper ventilation or fire safety measures, posing a serious risk of accidents, including fires and explosions.

Officials involved in the operation said this crackdown is part of an ongoing effort to curb illegal LPG trade and ensure public safety. “Unauthorized handling and storage of LPG is not only a violation of the law but also a major safety hazard. Strict action will continue against those involved,” an official stated.

Several individuals have been detained for questioning, and legal action is expected under relevant sections of the law. Investigations are ongoing to identify the full network behind the illegal operations and determine how long the activities had been taking place.

The authorities have urged citizens to report any suspicious LPG-related activities in their areas. They also reminded businesses and consumers to use LPG cylinders only through authorized distributors to avoid legal trouble and ensure safety.

This large-scale seizure highlights the seriousness of illegal fuel trade and the need for strict monitoring to prevent misuse of essential resources.
