Kothagudem Railway Station Explosion

A minor explosion occurred near the Kothagudem (Bhadrachalam Road) Railway Station in Telangana after a Crude Country made bomb detonated on the railway tracks. The incident happened when a Stray dog picked up a cloth bag lying near the platform, dragged it toward the tracks, and Bit into it triggering the blast. The dog died on the spot.

Authorities confirmed that No passengers or staff were injured and there were no trains scheduled to leave the station at that time, which prevented a potential larger mishap.

How the Bomb Was Found

Police investigations revealed that the bag contained “Onion shaped” Crude bombs often used for Illegal hunting or to kill wild animals. After the explosion, police searched nearby garbage dump areas and recovered Four to five more crude bombs in similar bags.

The station area was quickly cordoned off and bomb disposal teams, railway security and a dog squad conducted searches to ensure safety.

What Police Said

District Superintendent of Police clarified that:

  • The bomb was Not linked to terrorism or any targeted attack.
  • These devices appear to be Hunting bombs illegally dumped near the station.
  • The blast was Accidental caused when the dog bit into the device.
  • The public should Avoid spreading rumours or false claims on social media.

Authorities are analyzing CCTV footage and continuing their investigation to identify those who dumped the crude bombs.
