The Telangana State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA) has announced that a Special Lok Adalat will be held across the state on November 15, 2025, to facilitate the quick and amicable settlement of pending cases. The initiative aims to reduce the burden on regular courts and promote peaceful resolution through mutual understanding between disputing parties.
According to official sources, the Special Lok Adalat will be conducted in all district and taluka courts, as well as before tribunals and other legal forums, focusing primarily on compoundable civil, criminal, matrimonial, and financial disputes, including bank recovery, motor accident claims, and utility bill settlements.
Purpose of the Special Lok Adalat
The objective behind organizing this special drive is to encourage out of court settlements and provide citizens with an opportunity to resolve long-pending legal disputes without the need for prolonged litigation.
Officials stated that cases suitable for compromise or mediation will be identified in advance and listed before the Lok Adalat benches.
The Lok Adalat mechanism not only saves time and money but also ensures harmony and mutual respect among litigants. The decision made in Lok Adalat has the same legal status as a civil court decree, and no appeal lies against it, ensuring finality and swift closure.
What Types of Cases Will Be Taken Up
The Special Lok Adalat on November 15 will focus on the following categories:
- Pending cases in district and subordinate courts that are fit for settlement.
- Pre-litigation cases, especially involving financial institutions, electricity departments and insurance companies.
- Family disputes, property matters and traffic challans where compromise is possible.
- Compoundable criminal cases where both parties agree to settlement.
Authorities Appeal to the Public
The Member Secretary of TSLSA urged citizens and advocates to actively participate and make use of this opportunity to settle their disputes peacefully.
Citizens whose cases are pending in courts are advised to contact their respective District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) or Taluka Legal Services Committee for more details and pre-registration before the scheduled date.
Legal experts believe that these initiatives contribute significantly to reducing case backlogs and strengthening public confidence in the justice delivery system.
Awareness and Social Impact
Lok Adalats have become a powerful tool for accessible justice, especially for marginalized sections of society. They promote speedy, inexpensive, and participatory dispute resolution, aligning with Article 39A of the Constitution, which ensures equal justice for all.
In previous editions, Telangana’s Lok Adalats have successfully settled lakhs of cases worth several crores of rupees, reflecting growing public trust in this system.
