Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: Polling in Two Phases, Results on November 14

Bihar Assembly Elections 2025

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially announced the schedule for the Bihar Legislative Assembly Elections 2025. The elections will be conducted in two phases across 243 constituencies.

  • Phase 1 Polling: November 6, 2025
  • Phase 2 Polling: November 11, 2025
  • Counting of Votes: November 14, 2025

With the announcement, the Model Code of Conduct is now in force across the state.

Voter Roll Updates and Reforms

The ECI has completed a Special Intensive Revision of the voter list, adding 21.5 lakh new voters and removing 3.66 lakh duplicates. Bihar has also become the first state to cap the number of voters at 1,200 per polling station, reducing overcrowding and ensuring smoother voting.

Voter Information Slips (VIS) with polling station details and QR codes will be distributed to all registered voters before election day.

Political Battlelines Drawn

The election will witness a strong contest between the NDA alliance, led by the BJP and JD(U), and the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) of RJD, Congress, and Left parties.

Among the emerging players, the All India Majlis E Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), led by Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi, is preparing to contest a significant number of seats, especially in Seemanchal, Purnia, Kishanganj, Araria, and Katihar regions.

AIMIM’s strategy focuses on representing marginalised voices, addressing unemployment, Education, Law and Order and minority welfare. The party aims to build a third alternative for voters who feel excluded by the dominant alliances.

Local AIMIM leaders have begun booth level outreach, social media campaigns, and meetings with community groups. Owaisi has emphasized that the election is about justice, dignity, and equal opportunity, urging voters to support leadership that works for the poor and oppressed.

Election Climate

With unemployment, inflation, and youth migration emerging as major issues, the elections are expected to see high voter engagement. Security measures and awareness campaigns are being rolled out to ensure free, fair, and peaceful polling across all districts.
