Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to speed up land acquisition for the Musi Riverfront Development Project and formulate a clear policy for land pooling to avoid delays in the ambitious river rejuvenation programme.
During a review meeting on the Musi Riverfront Development, the Chief Minister instructed officials to take steps to invite Phase-2 tenders at the earliest, stressing the need to maintain momentum on the project.
Focus on Clear Land Acquisition Procedures
The Chief Minister called for clearly defined procedures for acquiring different categories of land associated with the Musi project.
Officials were directed to establish transparent procedures covering:
➤ Full Tank Level (FTL) areas
➤ Buffer zones
➤ Assigned lands
➤ Land pooling
The objective is to ensure that land acquisition proceeds without legal complications and delays.
Financing for Musi Projects
- Municipal Commissioners were also asked to explore low interest financing options for various Musi related development works.
- The meeting also reviewed the issuance of Transferable Development Rights (TDRs). Officials were instructed to regularly monitor TDR issuance and ensure that the process is properly managed.
Phase-2 Works to Move Ahead
- The Chief Minister emphasised that the next phase of the Musi Riverfront project should move forward without unnecessary delays.
- Officials were asked to complete the required procedures and initiate Phase-2 tenders at the earliest, paving the way for further development along the river corridor.
Omkareshwara Swamy Temple Development
- The meeting also discussed the development of the Omkareshwara Swamy Temple near Manchirevula.
- The Chief Minister directed officials to take up the tendering process for the temple works immediately.
Promotion of Kotwalguda Birds Park
- The government also wants to increase public awareness and tourism promotion around Kotwalguda Birds Park.
- Officials were directed to explore ways to promote the birds park more widely and attract greater public attention to the destination.
Government’s Focus on Musi Rejuvenation
- The latest directions indicate that the Telangana government is focusing on accelerating the Musi River rejuvenation programme through faster land acquisition, streamlined procedures, financing arrangements and tendering.
- The government is also linking the broader development programme with tourism and recreational projects around the Musi corridor.
