As tensions grow in the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran, the tone of public statements from both sides has drawn attention.
In Washington, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has taken a strong stance while defending military actions against Iran. He has also clashed with journalists during press briefings, accusing parts of the media of misrepresenting the goals of the U.S. operations.
Hegseth said the strikes are aimed at weakening Iran’s military capabilities and preventing future threats, while insisting the campaign supports American strategic interests.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has maintained a calmer tone, saying Tehran still prefers diplomacy despite the escalating conflict. Iranian officials say they remain open to negotiations but will continue to resist what they describe as external aggression.
Observers note the sharp contrast between Washington’s hardline rhetoric and Tehran’s diplomatic messaging as the conflict continues to evolve.
