PIB: Union Minister of Coal & Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, visited the Central Coalfields Limited’s Magadh-Sanghamitra Area in Chatra district, Jharkhand. He was given a traditional welcome upon arrival.
During the visit, the minister:
- Inspected ongoing mining operations in the area.
- Interacted with officials, trade union leaders, and local workers to understand ground-level challenges and progress.
- Distributed job interview letters to 24 people who were displaced by mining operations.
- Engaged specifically with women workers, including safai karamcharis (cleaning staff), acknowledging their role and concerns.
- Took part in a tree plantation program, underlining environmental commitments alongside mining activity.
The visit aims to balance mining productivity with welfare of local communities, worker safety, environment, and employment. Local officials said such visits help in identifying bottlenecks and ensuring that projects benefit both the region’s development and its people.
