Two Inter State Drug Couriers Arrested Near MGBS

Police from Afzalgunj police station arrested two inter state drug transporters near the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) area in Hyderabad and seized 10.32 kilograms of ganja.

The arrested accused have been identified as Ashish Shikdhar (60) of Odisha and Bhima Jali (34) of Odisha. Both were working as drug transporters. Another accused, Mouni (40) of Odisha, who allegedly operates as a ganja peddler, is currently absconding.

According to the police, the investigation revealed that Mouni had hired Ashish and Bhima to transport ganja from Odisha to Hyderabad by bus. They were reportedly paid ₹2,000 per kilogram for each delivery. To avoid detection, the contraband was hidden in specially stitched vests with multiple pockets, worn under their clothing.

Police said the duo had earlier managed to transport six kilograms of ganja successfully. On February 13, 2026, they were again sent from Odisha carrying about 10 kilograms of ganja along with ₹5,000 to deliver the consignment near MGBS to a receiver known only to Mouni.

On February 14, 2026, at around 5:35 pm, while the accused were waiting near MGBS for the receiver, they were noticed by police during routine patrolling and apprehended.

During the operation, police seized 10.32 kilograms of ganja, two specially designed vests, two mobile phones, two jackets and ₹2,380 in cash from their possession.

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway to trace the absconding accused Mouni and identify the intended receiver of the contraband in Hyderabad. Police said efforts are being intensified to dismantle the wider drug supply network involved in the case.
