Telangana Police to Register FIRs at Victims Doorstep

Telangana Police have introduced a victim centric initiative that allows victims of serious and sensitive crimes to register First Information Reports (FIRs) without visiting a police station. The system will be implemented across the state by the Crime Investigation Department (CID).

Under this initiative, victims or their representatives can call emergency numbers 100 or 112 to request police assistance at the Victim’s residence, Hospital or Any preferred location. Police officers will then visit the location to register the FIR on the spot and record statements under the relevant provisions of law. The program aims to reduce trauma and inconvenience for victims, especially women and children involved in cases such as sexual offences and other sensitive crimes.

The service applies to a range of cases including offences affecting the human body, property crimes and offences under special laws like the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, and Telangana Prohibition of Ragging Act. Police will also ensure crime scene security, evidence preservation, and proper investigation starting from the victim’s location.

This initiative prioritizes Victim dignity, Safety and Convenience by providing immediate assistance and minimizing the trauma of visiting a police station. Standard operating procedures have been finalized and distributed to police units statewide to ensure smooth and effective implementation.
